Gaza Bristol Friendship and Palestine Museum in coordination with the Gaza-based 16thOctoberMediaGroup held on Sunday, May 14th, 2023 an event about how to use social and alternative media to amplify the Palestinian narrative to the world.

This event marked the ongoing Nakba, the anniversary of the assassination of Shireen Abu Akleh, and the recent Israeli attack on Gaza. Dozens attended the event in Bristol UK and on Zoom as well.

Over 40 people at the Palestine Museum and Cultural Centre in Bristol and 31 people online attended the historic blended Zoom-live meeting entitled ‘In the ongoing Nakba how do we win hearts and minds?’

Wafa Al Udaini and Sijoud Shnewra of the ‘Oct16th Media Group’ together with Yvonne Denny reporter for the Bristol Post, Tahmina Rana a freelance journalist writing for the Urdu press in Pakistan, Peter Oswald a playwright with the remote theatre Hands Up Project stimulated a question and answer session.

The Bristol Palestine Museum, marking its 10-year anniversary was happy to host the event. The event followed a 5-day onslaught against Gaza by the Israeli occupation in which 33 people were murdered and over 400 seriously injured.

Poignantly this was also the one-year anniversary of the assassination by Israel of journalist Shireen Abu Akleh.
