What is happening in Damon Prison? Damon is a prison designated for women among a long list of prisons in the Israeli occupation, and according to the latest news received from it.. the prison administration suppressed female prisoners on September 25th.
The prison administration confiscated clothes from the female prisoners, leaving only two changes with each prisoner, and confiscated blankets, toothbrushes, cleaning materials, and the room windows were not spared from confiscation either, because the female prisoners returned one of the meals provided the day before the suppression, so this was a retaliatory step by the prison administration.
As for October 7th, the prison was subjected to suppression without any reason at 6:15 in the morning, without any prior warning, and the prison guards took the female prisoners out of some rooms to the yard, and the prison administration proceeded to search some rooms thoroughly, and some rooms normally, and searched the bathrooms, and handcuffed the female prisoners.
The prison administration did not stop there, but also blindfolded the female prisoners and made them sit on the ground on their knees for two and a half hours in the yard. Some of the female prisoners were isolated, and the prison director threatened the female prisoners if any of them spoke. Later, the prison administration confiscated the clothes from the female prisoners, and they were left with only one change of clothes. None of the female prisoners had sleeping blankets.
It is worth noting that the total number of arrests among women after October 7th amounted to more than (425) (this statistic includes women who were arrested from the territories occupied in 1948, and the arrests among women from Gaza who were arrested from the West Bank). This data does not include the number of women who were arrested from Gaza, and their number is estimated in the dozens.
The number of female prisoners whose identities are known is (97), including three from Gaza whose identities are known and they are in Al-Damon prison, while the number of administrative detainees is (27). The aforementioned number of female prisoners does not include all female prisoners from Gaza.
