The Palestinian Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip warned, today, Saturday, of the repercussions of the unprecedented crisis of medicines and medical supplies on the lives of patients in the Strip’s hospitals, in light of the ongoing Israeli aggression and the occupation’s control over all the Strip’s crossings, and its continued targeting of the health sector in Gaza.

The Ministry of Health said, in a statement, that hospitals and health centers are suffering from a severe shortage of medicines and medical supplies, and that 60% of the list of essential medicines and 83% of the list of medical supplies have run out of the Ministry’s warehouses.

It explained that this situation will lead to a complete halt to medical services, most notably: emergency services, operations, intensive care, kidney dialysis services, primary health care, and mental health, which threatens the lives of patients, the injured and the wounded.

The Ministry appealed to all international and UN institutions and concerned parties to quickly intervene and provide the necessary needs of medicines and medical supplies.

The Israeli occupation forces continue to control and close the crossings of the Gaza Strip, preventing the wounded and sick from traveling for treatment or bringing in any humanitarian aid to the Strip for the 110th consecutive day.

The occupation has been closing the crossings since it invaded the city of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip and imposed its control over the Rafah land crossing and Kerem Abu Salem, despite warnings from humanitarian and relief organizations and international demands to reopen the crossings to avoid a humanitarian disaster due to the interruption of aid, and to save the lives of thousands of patients and wounded.
